Meghan Markle, from Suits diva to duchess and style icon
The Duchess of Sussex sported an impeccable look even on her first appearance as a mother, when she wore a trench dress made by designer Grace Wales Bonner. Designer who recently collaborated with Maria Grazia Chiuri on Dior's Cruise 2020 collection
A little for her innate sense of style and a little for the inspiration drawn from Lady D, since Meghan Markle entered Buckingham Palace she has earned a place in the rankings of the royal (and not) best dressed women.
And although she is not the one to have grabbed the title of princess, according to the public she is entitled to that of style icon. Meghan Markle therefore does not simply sport the latest fashion looks or with studied styling but also manages to impose trends in clothing and, as has often happened, sell-out some of the items with which she appears in public.
Success, for Meghan, born in 1981, did not come however when a year ago on May 19th she married Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex. But thanks to the role of the elegant legal assistant Rachel Zane in the American series Suits, in which she starred from 2011 to 2017, a year after meeting her (second) husband.
In addition to her career on the small and big screen, with the films High in Love, Remember Me, Traveling with a Rock Star and How to Kill Your Boss ... and Live Happy for which she gained acclaim from the public, Markle has also worked as a model before retiring from the scene to take refuge at Buckingham Palace. Even if the passion for fashion has remained on and repeatedly proven by the refined looks chosen for her public appearances.
From the most recent, the first as a mother of the newborn Archie Harrison, born on 6 May, consisting of a white trench dress with a tuxedo neckline made by Grace Wales Bonner (see MFF of 2 May), the young designer who recently collaborated with Cruise 2020 collection by Dior alongside Maria Grazia Chiuri (see MFF on May 1st), and Jimmy Choo suede nude pumps.
Notoriously a fan of Givenchy, a brand that she wore on several occasions, including at the royal wedding, the Duchess, however, ranges from simple and sophisticated outfits such as sheath dresses with bateau necklines and 12 heel pumps, blouses and
pants or, why not, jeans paired with flat shoes, such as Sarah Flint's famous ballet flats, sold out immediately after the photographers' shots. An affordable and decidedly reproducible style has probably led the royal of England to be among the most loved in the kingdom, after Lady D.
