The royal romance between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle captivated the world when they announced their engagement in 2017. As an American actress, Meghan brought a fresh perspective to the traditionally conservative royal family. Their union was seen as a symbol of modernization within the monarchy, with the hope of ushering in a new era of inclusivity and progress.
However, as the couple settled into their roles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, they encountered intense scrutiny from the media and the public. Harry, who had always been known for his rebellious streak, began distancing himself from traditional royal protocols. This newfound independence raised eyebrows and led some to view it as a betrayal of his duty to the crown. Meghan also faced her fair share of criticism, with the media subjecting her to relentless scrutiny. Her biracial heritage and outspoken nature made her a target for racist and sexist attacks.
The "Megxit" saga reached its peak in January 2020 when Harry and Meghan shocked the world with their announcement that they intended to step back as senior members of the royal family. This decision, dubbed "Megxit," sent shockwaves across the globe and sparked intense debates about duty, privilege, and personal freedom.
Fast forward to the Oscars, where Jimmy Kimmel saw an opportunity to take a swipe at Prince Harry during his monologue. Kimmel quipped that Harry had become a "fake prince" since marrying Meghan Markle, implying that he had lost touch with his royal heritage. The comment struck a nerve, resonating with those who felt that Harry's actions had compromised his status and obligations as a member of the monarchy.
Kimmel's remark not only elicited laughter but also reignited the ongoing debate surrounding Harry and Meghan's departure from the royal family. Supporters of the couple argue that they made a courageous decision to prioritize their mental health and protect their young family from relentless media scrutiny. On the other hand, critics argue that Harry's actions have tarnished the reputation of the royal family and questioned the sincerity of his commitment to duty.
As Harry and Meghan forge their path outside the royal institution, the future remains uncertain. They have embarked on various endeavors, including signing lucrative deals with streaming platforms and launching their own charitable foundation, Archewell. These ventures aim to establish their independence and promote causes close to their hearts, such as mental health awareness and social justice.
Jimmy Kimmel's ruthless jab at Prince Harry at the Oscars shed light on the ongoing narrative surrounding the couple's departure from the royal family. Harry's transformation from a traditional prince to a more unconventional figure has sparked both admiration and criticism. Regardless of one's opinion, it is evident that Harry and Meghan are determined to carve their own path and redefine what it means to be a member of the royal family in the 21st century. As their journey unfolds, the world watches with bated breath, eager to see how their marriage and endeavors will shape the future of the British monarchy.
This is what I disagree about-"Her biracial heritage and outspoken nature made her a target for racist and sexist attacks". Meghan was called out for her treatment of her staff- like throwing hot tea on an employee on the Australian tour & the employee had to be silenced with money, Meghan's racial discrimination of the Queen's valued Major Nana Kofi Twumasi-Ankrah - but Meghan didn't want any of his services and the lies & stories she couldn't keep straight. Meghan was so welcomed in the RF but she her true nature surfaced in no time and therefore the people saw through Meghan. Why Harry doesn't realize this is beyond me.
