According to royal expert and author Tom Quinn, who spoke with the Mirror, Meghan has reached out to Kate, as she has done with her father-in-law, to extend her well wishes for their speedy recovery. However, these interactions remain formal and lack the warmth that would be expected considering their previous history. Kate, while appreciating the good wishes, is reluctant to fully forgive and forget. She harbors concerns that Meghan might publicize any misunderstandings or minor disagreements that may arise between them.
Quinn further explained that a superficial relationship may develop between the two, primarily driven by Meghan's desire to maintain the reputation of brand Sussex. However, trust between Kate and Meghan is unlikely to be fully reestablished. They cannot revert to relying on each other as they once did. It has been reported that Meghan received a phone call from Princess Kate in an effort to clear the air after the release of Omid Scobie's controversial royal book, which reignited tensions within the Royal Family regarding racial issues.
The relationship between Meghan and Kate has been strained since Meghan's revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey, which took place shortly after she and Prince Harry stepped down as senior working royals and moved to the United States in 2020.
Despite the existing strain, Harry and Meghan, the parents of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are said to be concerned for Kate's well-being, particularly as she recovers at home following abdominal surgery in January.
