While some have labeled the trip as an "unofficial royal tour," PR expert Mayah Riaz suggests that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will deviate from the usual "official protocol." Riaz believes that Harry and Meghan aim to showcase a more relaxed and informal side of themselves during their time in Nigeria.
In an exclusive interview with The Mirror, Mayah expressed her thoughts, saying, "Undoubtedly there will be all eyes on Harry and Meghan as they embark on their trip to Nigeria. However, this will be different from a traditional royal visit, and they intend it to be so."
She further explained, "There will be no press accompanying them on the plane, nor will they be greeted with the typical welcoming ceremonies like military honors or flag-raising ceremonies that often accompany royal visits."
Mayah elaborated on the similarities with a royal visit, mentioning that the press will cover the couple's public appearances at events and ceremonies, providing glimpses of their interactions with the public. Given Harry and Meghan's strong commitment to philanthropy and their focus on important causes, it is possible that they will visit charities, schools, or other institutions dedicated to social causes.
Mayah also highlighted that Meghan's choice of outfits may deviate from traditional royal dress codes, as she will carefully plan her ensembles to reflect her personal style. While these outfits are expected to generate significant interest and may quickly sell out, there will be no official protocol for Meghan to adhere to. On the other hand, Harry is anticipated to adopt a more casual look throughout the trip, departing from his usual suited appearance.
Although the trip may draw comparisons to a royal visit, Mayah emphasized that it will possess a distinct look and feel. She predicts that this journey to Nigeria will be the first of many more to come for Harry and Meghan as they continue to explore and engage with global communities.
