FCT Minister & Nigerian President Decline Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Request for Private Meeting: Fraud Allegations Surface

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's recent visit to Nigeria has been marked by controversy and disappointment as their requests for a private meeting with top Nigerian officials were turned down. After keeping a low profile for some time, their return to the spotlight was marred by various incidents. During a Women's Leadership Summit, Meghan arrived an hour late, showcasing a colorful display of cultural connection. However, her speech was criticized for being meaningless and filled with empty words.

She declared Nigeria as her country after discovering her Nigerian heritage through a genealogy test. Addressing the crowd at the event held in Abuja, she expressed gratitude for the warm reception they received from the locals. She even mentioned a memo advising her to wear more colors to better connect with the people on cultural grounds. She said, "I want to start by saying thank you very much for just how gracious you've all been in welcoming my husband and me to this country, my country."

Despite this, sources reported that Nigerian President Bola Tanbu declined to meet with the couple, suggesting that their visit was not considered a priority given the pressing matters at hand in Abuja. Social media chatter further fueled the speculation that Meghan and Harry were not granted an audience with the president. It seems that their visit did not warrant the presence of a representative from the president's office or a meeting with the FCT Minister, who holds a position similar to that of the governor of Abuja.

The couple's importance was questioned, and it was understood that rolling out the red carpet for them was not a priority when there were more pressing matters to attend to in Abuja. This development may lead to awkwardness with Prince Charles, as the Nigerian president had met him in Dubai at the COP 28 Climate Summit.

During their three-day visit, Prince Harry and Meghan aimed to promote the Invictus Games, which is celebrating its 10th year. Nigeria is being considered as a prospective host country for the games in the future, although no decision has been made yet. Some commentators view this visit to West Africa as a PR effort to improve the couple's image. Critics argue that Prince Harry, no longer representing the crown, is now perceived more as a reality star and author, and they believe that Harry and Meghan are trying to appear more important than they actually are.

The initially discreet and private visit has taken on the characteristics of a royal tour, with the couple engaging in tasks typically associated with official royal visits, further immersing themselves in Commonwealth territory. However, Meghan's choice of attire has drawn criticism, with some likening it to that of a hungover cougar visiting a bar. The trip has stirred up a mix of opinions, and it remains to be seen how it will ultimately impact the couple's public image.
