In a statement provided to HELLO! magazine, Kensington Palace expressed regret, stating, "We look forward to rescheduling in the future and are extremely sorry to anyone who has already travelled." The decision to postpone engagements came after British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced the date for the elections. Buckingham Palace relayed the monarch’s directive, emphasizing the need to avoid diverting attention or distracting from the election campaign.
With the elections scheduled for July 4th, there are uncertainties surrounding major royal events in June, including King Charles and Queen Camilla’s state visit to Japan and Trooping the Colour.
However, despite the postponements, King Charles’ trip to France for the D-Day commemoration on June 6th will proceed as planned. Prince William is also expected to join his father and stepmother, Queen Camilla, for several events during the trip.
