Speaking to the Mirror, royal expert and author Tom Quinn said, "Megan was very tempted to go to the Met Gala. She loves these kind of big glitzy events, especially as they are being held to raise money for charity. And with the Met Gala campaign being launched, her new online brand, she needs all the publicity she can get. She may no longer be a working actress, but she's addicted to mingling with celebrities, and that's why she lives in Montecito next to Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, and a host of other celebrities. The glamour associated with being a celebrity in the US has always been something Megan can't live without, and an event like the Met Gala is almost too tempting to resist."
Megan did not appear at the Met Gala and is believed to have refused to celebrate her son Archie's birthday instead. Prince Archie, who turned five on May 6th, is believed to have celebrated his birthday at home in a small but intimate event with Prince Harry, Megan, and his sister Princess Lilibet.
Archie, who has been living in the US since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior royals, was described by author Tom Quinn as "a real live person who likes to rush at full throttle." He explained that Megan enjoys organizing Christmas for her children but wants them to be very private affairs so that Archie and Lilibet can experience the more ordinary things in life.
Quinn said, "When it comes to her children's birthdays, Megan is almost obsessed with the idea that they should be quiet, very private affairs with simple games and birthday cake and ice cream. Archie is a real live wire who loves to rush at full speed, so there will also be blind man's bluff and tag among other games. Megan combines a deep sense of her global importance in the wider world with a desire to have her own children experience what she sees as the most ordinary things in life."
For Archie's birthday, there will be friends from school, Megan's mother Doria Ragland, and one or two celebrities or famous neighbors who have a child the same age. This includes actors Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom and their daughter Daisy, who will definitely be invited.
