The purchase of the first bra, a must, but not always easy to manage! A short guide to accompany your teen in this step, from the choice of model to the ideal form, including the appropriate time to discuss it.
When to buy your first bra?
The purchase of the first bra is experienced as a rite of passage by most adolescent girls. It’s not just underwear! It symbolizes the transition from childhood to the status of a young woman. Some are impatient to wear them, others more reluctant. This is why you must accompany your daughter in this stage with seriousness and gentleness, by engaging in dialogue. If she is shy, set the stage by buying magazines about it and encourage her to chat with her friends.
On average, the purchase of the first bra takes place around 10-12 years old. Some breasts will develop earlier, others later. From a medical point of view, it is advisable to wear a bra from cup B, not before. Below, the chest does not really need support and it is more a question of comfort. With a touch of discreet observation, you will know when the big day has arrived!
How to choose your first bra?

The more your daughter is involved in the choice of her underwear, the more she will wear it with pleasure!
Which bra model for which breast?
Generally, young girls set their sights on the bras, available from the age of 6 and very easy to put on. These models favor comfort above all and are there to give confidence. For more femininity and especially support, we will choose the triangle bra, ideal for teenage girls with emerging breasts. With a single clip and removable pads, it causes almost no discomfort for the girl who wears it. For larger cups, the padded bra is the best solution. Without padding, but with underwire, it allows a real soft support.
As the chest is often painful when it grows, it is important that it is supported, especially during intense physical activities. The purchase of a sports bra is therefore a complementary purchase for all teenage girls!
Remember: your little bit of a woman is growing. As soon as the bra is tight or no longer offers adequate support, it must be changed. So plan a regular visit to a lingerie store to renew your daughter's underwear.
