Both during the winter and during the summer, there are many women who wear them, I'm talking about leggings. But are we really sure that they are a clothing item suitable for all legs? It being understood that - fortunately - everyone with his own body can do what he wants (as long as it is legal!) And that beauty is subjective, in some cases, however, the dear old good taste really seems to have abandoned us!
Historical courses and applications in fashion
Leggings (also called "leggins" in Italy) are a very tight-fitting garment, worn on the legs. This type of dress with such a curious name, was most popular in the eighties and early nineties, then we called them fuseaux (from "spindle" for the shape it gives to the female figure), a term already used by the Italian designer Emilio Pucci since from the 50s. Used well before the 80s (when there was a real boom thanks to the singer Madonna who wore them in Desperately Wanted Susan from 1985), made famous also by many historical fashion icons, such as the great Audrey Hepburn, who she wears them in the films Sabrina and in Cinderella in Paris. As often happens in this field, these tight-fitting trousers have returned to fashion in recent times, from 2005 onwards, thanks also to their comfort, but also to the sensuality that they undoubtedly give off if worn in the right way. Usually the current models are made of elastam, or mixed nylon and cotton or polyester yarns, but there are also models made of wool or silk, or latex.
The leggings highlight the flaws
The worst flaw of these leggings is to highlight the defects, even in those who do not have particularly evident ones, and therefore you should think carefully when choosing to wear them, especially if you want to impress a boy with particularly refined tastes!
When fashion brought them back, the stylists combined them with very long sweaters or mini dresses, today, after a few years from their relaunch, the sweaters have shortened, and from under the dress, the leggings have returned to being "trousers", showing very snug on the buttocks, with results that vary from extremely sexy to extremely ridiculous. In fact, all the things that stylists throw on the catwalk are not always put by ordinary people (indeed we say most of them!): This should also be the case for leggings. So the first question we have to ask ourselves is ...
Who are leggings good for?
Obviously beauty is a relative fact, and it is obvious that all women have the right to wear it if they want, regardless of the shape of their body and their line, but I think I can say - with a good margin of certainty - that there are legs that are objectively better with leggings and others less. Being cut at the ankle, or worse at the calf, the leggings certainly do not slim the legs but shorten them.
