Two simple formulas are enough to find cup size and size that will allow us, finally, to clarify the bra suitable for our body.
Finding the right bra size is important to avoid the hassles due to a wrong choice: too tight braces, underwire that tightens under the armpit area or the fat pads that come out, in the chest area, when the bra tightens too much. To avoid these annoying inconveniences it is important to calculate the bra size well. Let's find out how to take the best measures to not make mistakes anymore to have maximum comfort from our underwear by finding the right bra for us.

How to calculate bra size and cup
To identify the exact size of the bra you need to calculate two different sizes:
1. the circumference of the breast: it is measured with the person in an upright position, at the height of the nipples, and with the arms at the sides;
2.the circumference of the chest: it is measured just below the breast.
With the circumference of the chest we obtain the numerical value of the bra; with the circumference of the breast, however, the size of the cup which is indicated with a letter.
In Italy, the numerical value is represented by a series of ordinal numbers obtained from a simple mathematical formula: the measurement of the chest circumference minus 60 cm, the result / 5. The final result must then be rounded up or down to the nearest whole number.
So we will have:
65 cm = size I
70 cm = size II
75 cm = size III
80 cm = size IV
85 cm = size V
90 cm = size VI
95 cm = size VII
100 cm = size VIII
Even to find the right cup size and thus identify the correct letter, a simple mathematical formula must be solved: the circumference of the breast - (the circumference of the chest + 12.5 cm).
The result corresponds, by convention, to an identical letter in most countries.
0 cm = AA cup
2,5 cm = cup A
5 cm = cup B
7.5 cm = cup C
10 cm = cup D
12.5 cm = E cup
15 cm = cup F
17,5 cm = FF cup
20 cm = cup G
A simple example: If a woman, therefore, has a chest circumference of 75 cm and a breast circumference of 95 cm, the correct size of the bra is a III C in fact:
95 cm - (75 cm + 12.5 cm) = 95 cm - 87.5 cm = 7.5 cm
How to understand when we wrong the size of the bra?
It is not difficult to understand when we made the wrong bra size. There are very recognizable signs to understand it: for example the braces that leave their mark on the shoulders also, if the bra is tight, we will find some flab rolls on the chest. The underwire is also an important indicator: if the size is not correct we will find irritated skin in the axillary area. However, check that the shoulder straps are not too tight just because they need to be adjusted: they must not fall or tighten too much. Also, to understand if the band is right, you must be able to insert your fingers between the band and the skin. The bra, then, should be fine if you close it with the most external hooks, because it is there that the bra must be closed, the internal hooks are used when used when the fabric loses elasticity.
American bra sizes: how to calculate them
In the United States the sizes of the bras are expressed with a number that represents the measurement of the under breast (chest circumference) and a letter indicating the size of the cup that goes from A to D. To calculate the American size take the measurement of the under breast , convert the result obtained into inches (1 cm corresponds to 0.39 inches) and add 5 to the result: the number obtained corresponds to the size of your chest. Now measure the breast for the cup by converting this measurement also in inches. The difference between the value you got and the chest measurement corresponds to the cup size which is represented in this table:
No difference = AA cup
1 inch difference = cup A
2 inches difference = cup B
3 inches difference = C cup
4 inches difference = D cup
5 inches difference = DD cup
You can also convert the bra size from Italian to American by following this scheme, based on the size of the under breast:
International size: XS S M L XL 2XL 3XL 4XL
